I don’t think I could chose between the 1st book in the series or this one. Both are just awesome. Each book has parts in it that I find dear to my heart. I just love shifter books and Vivienne Savage work. She is an amazing author. She is an author that really cares if her readers really enjoy her books and has a talent to pull you right into her books. Once you start reading this book you will not want to put it down. I love how she started this book. The title being “Let Us Prey” and starting it in a church service. Awesome.
Ian MacArthur who is a eagle shifter and is a retired Air Force Colonel and acting leader of a special squad operator. At his age he has to be wondering if he will ever find his mate. While sitting in a church service he sees her, his future mate Leigh Denton.
Ian has to wonder why fate would chose her as his future mate. Leigh has so many things going on in her life. She has a criminal record, drugs, alcohol, and lost custody of her baby. But there is something about Leigh. Not only is she this beautiful plus size woman, but there is something about her that Ian wants to give her a second chance.
Leigh has trust issues. The last thing she wants is a man in her life. The one thing she wants is to get her child back. Leigh not only has to fight the community about her past but the court system seems to not want to give her a fair chance. Will things every start to look up for Leigh? Can people learn to let the past be the past? Will Ian be able to win Leigh’s heart? Will Leigh be able to except Ian’s secret of being a shifter.
There is so many great parts in this book. trust me if you like shifter books you will love this one. It is one outstanding book. Great job Vivienne Savage.

Okay, the beginning hooked me on these characters. Ian was so funny, so sweet, thoughtful, so... everything. Ugh, and Leigh! She's got some darkness in her past, but it wasn't the usual sexual abuse that's become such a clich� (I'm not saying it isn't rampant in the real world, I'm just saying that not every heroine needs to overcome it to be interesting). You get the bare bones of the scandal at the beginning, but when Leigh actually explains what happened and how everything fell apart, your heart just breaks for her. It was understandable, and so real that it could have been the story of your neighbor, your cousin... or even you. Beyond the sad stuff, there was action! And more Russ and Dani! And NAKED Russ! Of course naked Ian, sexy times, and all. But naked Russ was an unexpected bonus. Sorry, got a little off-course there. Speaking of sexy times, here's one of the best things I loved about Ian, and yet another way that this book diverged from the genre tropes: Ian was not a manwhore, and physical intimacy actually means something important to him. He's such a genuinely good person in so many other ways (as is Leigh, regardless of what anyone else may think of her-- case in point, she takes in a stray pregnant dog, even as she struggles to survive, herself), but his feelings about sex just clinched it for me. Can't wait for Taylor's book, and my heart just hurt for him and Sasha, so I'm hoping they both find happy endings :)

Emotionally charged and full of twists!

This book is an unforgettable story that will stick in your mind long after you have read the last page! You will get drawn in right from the start when you meet Leigh. She is broken. Life did that to her. But she is trying to pull the broken pieces of her life back together. It's not easy. She lives in a small town and people judge her. Her character was an accurate depiction of many people in that same situation. She is relatable in her humanity. She's a fixer upper.
Ian, whom we met in The Right To Bear Arms, is also a beautifully described character. He is a fixer. His character is heroic in so many respects that it is no wonder that he is an Eagle shifter. Their story isn't easy, and the people that you think are evil aren't always the bad guys. But the real bad guys are awfully evil.
The plot of this story was really well developed with plot twists that will surprise you. New characters are introduced so you know that this group of people will be coming back in future stories, which is exciting. I really enjoyed this book. I had trouble putting it down and had to read it straight through because I could not find a good stopping place! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that enjoys uplifting stories that include good guys vs bad guys, shoot outs, custody battles, and stories about people who make mistakes but work at fixing them.
